Call out for Tournament volunteers in 2021

Dear valued members & volunteers,

We are writing to you to seek interest in any members and/or prior volunteers to show interest in assisting the Queanbeyan Golf Club again in the near future.

In what has been an interesting year, we have still gained some excellent tournaments for our club for the 2021 year.

2021 NSW Open qualifier – 23rd February to 25th February

2021 NSW/ACT PGA Pro-Am – March (TBA)

2021 Australian Junior Championships (Interstate Teams Series) – 18th April to 22nd April

We are looking at putting a master list of prospective volunteers in play (similar to that which so wonderfully served the 2019 Women’s NSW Open) so we can easily put together a volunteer team for each event. Following are the kind of tasks required over these tournaments;

  • Starters
  • Spotters
  • Roving marshals
  • Live scorers
  • Practice fairway coordinators

Also required are volunteers to help around the course with general maintenance etc, would be after hours on Monday/Tuesday nights to take advantage of daylight savings as per previous years.

We will then collate our master list & be ready to go for whatever comes our way.

Interested parties are respectfully requested to nominate by emailing Tony at

Please assist by registering your intent by no later than Monday 18th January 2021.

Whether it be for a few hours on one single day, to a “permanent residency” in the clubhouse for a month! Thank you in advance for ANY and ALL assistance you can provide.

Member’s update – December 2020

Members are courteously invited to read the most recent update on club events, posted by Club President John Bull.

Just in time for the festive season!!! Ho Ho Ho …..

John provides an update on the $5.00 Course Utilisation Fee, includes a breakdown on the new competition fee structure, and included is a short message of thanks to our wonderful “Coffin Dodgers” from Sue Korth (representing the “Thursday Gardening Group”)

Members and guests are urged to peruse the attached media release from the NSW State Minister for Customer Service Victor Dominelli MP, regarding the upcoming MANDATORY requirement for digital (QR CODE) signing in, to licensed premises in NSW from Monday 23rd November 2020.

Queanbeyan Golf Club has been transitioning from manual to digital (QR code) since Monday 26th October 2020. Our friendly staff have been assisting patrons in downloading the ServiceNSW app, and providing welcome assistance and support in using the QR code scanning process.

Below are a number of key excerpts from Minister Dominelli in his media release,

“we can’t respond to a pandemic with paper”

“any business that is serious about safety should be using digital

“any business that thinks they are above the law will face serious penalties”

“I strongly encourage businesses to download a free NSW Government QR code and for customers to use the COVID Safe Check In through the Service NSW app.”

So far more than 16,000 businesses have used a NSW Government QR code and 94 per cent of customers have given the COVID Safe Check In the thumbs up.”

Hi folks, to ensure Queanbeyan Golf Club remains in line with the most recent changes to the NSW Public Health Orders, the check-in procedure has been upgraded from the manual sign-in sheet, to the use of a digital QR code system provided by ServiceNSW.

The QR codes require you to download the ServiceNSW app on your smart phone, and you will be prompted to use the COVID Safe Check-in feature.

The process is very simple, and is as follows;

  1. Download the ServiceNSW app
  2. In the app, select “COVID Safe Check-in”
  3. Follow the prompts
  4. Show a staff member that you’ve signed in

If you have ANY trouble at all with this process, please ask one of our friendly staff, who will be very happy to help you out.
